Aero stuck, frozen, or not responding
If your Manhattan Aero gets stuck or stops responding completely, for example after a software update, you can boot it into recovery mode to restore it. Most customers will never need to do this, but it’s a useful tool to have if your Aero gets into a bad state.
When to use recovery mode
Try recovery mode if:
- The Aero is stuck on a black screen or the boot logo for several minutes
- It restarts in a loop and never reaches the Home screen
- It stops responding to the remote and won’t switch off and on again
Before going to recovery mode, try the simpler steps:
- Press and hold the BACK button on the remote for about two seconds
- Restart the Aero through Settings → System → Power & Energy Saving → Restart
- Unplug the Aero from power, wait 10 seconds, plug back in
How to enter recovery mode
You’ll need a small pin (a paperclip works well) to press the reset button on the back of the Aero.
- Unplug the Aero from power
- Insert the pin into the small reset hole on the back
- While holding the pin in, plug the Aero back into power
- Keep holding the pin in for at least three seconds, then release
Recovery mode then runs automatically – there’s nothing to select. The Aero first looks for new software, either on a USB drive or over the internet, and installs it if it finds one. If it can’t, it performs a factory reset and restarts with the software it already has.
Either way, you may need to set the Aero up again afterwards – signing back into apps and re-entering your postcode.
If recovery mode doesn’t help, get in touch and we’ll work through it with you.
