This is a substantial update for Aero, led by one of our most-requested improvements: the Aero remote can now wake the box over Bluetooth. The remote no longer needs line of sight to the Aero to wake it, so you can place your Aero out of sight behind your TV or inside a suitable ventilated cabinet.

TiVo Channels is becoming a much more integrated free-TV experience. Channels delivered directly through TiVo now have their own TV Guide in the existing TiVo Channels app, where you can browse what's on now and next, jump straight to a channel and add favourites. You can find the app at the start of My Apps or open it directly using the +FREE button on your Aero remote.

The TiVo+ Channels section in the Home screen sidebar has also been renamed TiVo Channels, bringing the experience under one clearer name. This section gives you an even wider choice, bringing together handpicked free live and on-demand content from TiVo Channels and other services, including Plex, Tubi, Pluto TV and Rakuten TV. Some content plays inside TiVo Channels, while other content opens in the provider's own app.

Together, the new Guide and the wider Home screen section give you the best of both: a more integrated way to watch TiVo's growing channel line-up, plus an even broader choice of free entertainment from across Aero.

The update also adds a Sports carousel, voice tuning by channel number and low-battery alerts for the remote. Audio Guidance now has a much more natural-sounding voice and supports more languages, while platform-wide improvements make TiVo OS more responsive and stable.

Several important issues have also been resolved, including Disney+ and Prime Video playback failures when Auto Frame Rate changed the HDMI output, a separate Prime Video issue that limited playback to low-quality SD on 1080p TVs, startup and recovery problems on certain TVs, a rare issue that could leave Aero unable to start after entering standby, and problems with the reset button on the back of the box.

BLUETOOTH WAKE FROM STANDBY

  • You can now wake Aero from standby using the Aero remote over Bluetooth. The remote no longer needs line of sight to the Aero to wake it, so you can place your Aero behind your TV or inside a suitable ventilated cabinet.

A TV GUIDE FOR TIVO CHANNELS

  • One of our most-requested TiVo features has arrived: TiVo Channels now has its own TV Guide.
  • Browse what's on now and next across its growing line-up of free streaming channels, jump straight to a channel and add favourites.
  • Open TiVo Channels from the start of My Apps or press the +FREE button on your Aero remote.

SPORTS CAROUSEL

  • A new Sports carousel brings together live, upcoming and on-demand sports content, making it quicker to find what you want to watch.

VOICE CHANNEL TUNING

  • You can now use voice to tune directly to a channel by saying its number.

REMOTE BATTERY NOTIFICATIONS

  • Aero now warns you when the batteries in your remote are running low, giving you time to replace them before the remote stops working.

Resolved

  • When Auto Frame Rate switched Aero's HDMI output between 50 Hz and 60 Hz, Disney+ could show Error 36 and Prime Video could fail to play or show a black screen.
  • On 1080p TVs using HDCP 1.4, Prime Video could play in low-quality SD instead of HD, even though other streaming apps played normally.
  • Aero could fail to start correctly or become stuck in recovery mode when connected to certain Philips, Panasonic and JVC TVs due to HDMI signal compatibility issues.
  • A rare issue could leave Aero unable to start after entering standby, with the front LED flashing alternately green and red.
  • The recessed reset button on the back of Aero could fail to start a factory reset when held for 10 seconds, or fail to open System Recovery when held for more than three seconds during startup.

MORE FREE CONTENT IN ONE PLACE

  • The TiVo+ Channels section in the Home screen sidebar has been renamed TiVo Channels.

  • Platform-wide improvements make TiVo OS more responsive and improve stability and memory use.

Update Instructions

Aero updates over the internet only. Once an update is detected, you’ll be asked if you want to install it. It will then download in the background and install automatically the next time your Aero goes into standby.

Updates roll out in stages, so if your Aero doesn’t detect the latest version straight away, nothing is wrong. Just keep it connected to the internet and leave it in standby when you’re not using it.

To check your current software version, go to Settings → System.

Previous Updates

v19.1021.201 is a revised version of the v19 update, resuming rollout from 9th June 2026.

It includes the same v19 additions: Auto Frame Rate, CEC Volume Control, a Standby When Inactive setting, a new carousel of free TiVo+ live content on the Home screen, optional navigation sounds, and other smaller improvements.

This release also resolves an issue seen by some customers on the earlier v19 rollout where Aero could wake from standby unexpectedly, in some cases also waking the connected TV via HDMI-CEC.

If your Aero already updated to the earlier v19 release, it will receive v19.1021.201 as a further update. If your Aero is still on the previous software, it will receive this revised version.

Once the update is detected, you’ll be asked if you want to install it. It will then download in the background and install automatically the next time your Aero goes into standby.

Resolved

Resolved an issue in the earlier v19 rollout where Aero could wake from standby unexpectedly, sometimes also waking the connected TV via HDMI-CEC.

The main additions in this update are two new settings exclusive to streaming devices like the Aero: Auto Frame Rate and CEC Volume Control. The update also adds a new option to disable the Aero's automatic standby behaviour, a new carousel of free live TV content on the Home screen, optional navigation sounds in the user interface, and a few smaller improvements.

The update started rolling out on 13th May 2026, but was paused while we investigated reports of Aero waking up unexpectedly.

New

AUTO FRAME RATE

  • A new Auto Frame Rate setting reduces motion judder by switching its HDMI output between 60 Hz and 50 Hz depending on the source frame rate.
  • You can find this setting at: Settings → Display settings → Auto Frame Rate. It is off by default.

STANDBY WHEN INACTIVE

  • The Aero enters standby automatically after 20 minutes with no playback or menu activity. This update introduces a new Standby When Inactive setting that lets you turn this behaviour off if you'd prefer your Aero never to go into standby on its own.
  • You can find this setting at: Settings → System → Power & Energy Saving → Standby When Inactive. It is on by default, so your Aero will continue to behave as it always has unless you change it.

CEC VOLUME CONTROL

  • A new CEC Volume Control option lets the Aero's remote control the volume on a connected TV, soundbar, or AV receiver over HDMI-CEC, instead of adjusting the Aero's own internal volume.
  • You can find this setting at: Settings → Inputs → CEC Volume Control. It is off by default.
  • Compatibility varies between devices. Before turning it on, please see CEC Volume Control for more information and guidance.

ALSO IN THIS RELEASE

  • A new carousel of free TiVo+ live content has been added to the Home screen.
  • Navigation sounds now play as you move through the user interface, providing clear audio feedback. The volume is set to Low by default. You can change it (or turn it off) at: Settings → System Sounds. The available options are Off, Low, Medium, and High.
  • Sports content is easier to find using search and voice.
