Why is there no sound?
If there’s no sound from your S4•R, first check that your TV, soundbar or AV receiver is turned on, set to the correct input, and not muted.
If you’ve lost sound on all channels, or on SD channels but still have sound on some HD channels or apps, the S4•R’s internal volume may have been turned down completely. This can happen if the volume buttons on your S4•R remote have been programmed to control your TV, soundbar or AV receiver instead.
Quick fix: reset the volume
To reset the S4•R’s internal volume to maximum:
- Press Home on your remote.
- Press → → → → → .
How the S4•R’s volume works
- The S4•R has its own internal volume control.
- By default, the volume buttons on the S4•R remote control this internal volume.
- Dolby audio can bypass the S4•R’s internal volume control when Dolby is enabled in Picture & Sound Settings and your TV or audio device supports it.
Best practice for volume control
For the best sound quality, we recommend:
- Resetting the S4•R’s internal volume to maximum using the sequence above.
- Using your TV, soundbar or AV receiver to control the final volume.
- Programming the S4•R remote’s volume buttons to control your main audio device.
