Why don't the volume buttons on my Aero remote control my TV?
If the volume buttons on the Aero remote aren’t changing your TV or soundbar’s volume, first check whether CEC Volume Control is turned on – it’s off by default. You’ll find it under Settings → Inputs → CEC Volume Control. Before turning it on, set the Aero’s own volume to maximum.
If it’s on and still not working, your TV may not support CEC volume commands from external devices. LG TVs don’t support this at all, and some other TVs and devices share the limitation – with Samsung, models we’ve tested from 2024 onwards work, but earlier ones didn’t. A soundbar or AV receiver routed through a TV that doesn’t support it is unlikely to work either, because the TV acts as the CEC hub.
We’re working on an infrared-based fallback so the Aero remote can control the volume on these TVs directly – no date to share yet. In the meantime, use your TV or soundbar remote for volume. For setup detail and the full compatibility picture, see HDMI-CEC Volume Control on Aero.
