Can I use a universal remote with Aero?
Yes, with some caveats.
Universal remotes like Sofabaton or One For All can usually learn the Manhattan Aero remote’s IR commands. To set this up:
- Unpair the Aero remote’s Bluetooth connection through Settings → Devices → Remote Control. The Aero remote will fall back to IR mode, which is what the universal remote can learn from.
- Use your universal remote’s learning function to copy the commands from the Aero remote.
- Once you’re done, you can re-pair the Aero remote over Bluetooth if you’d like to keep using it as your primary remote.
Limitation: voice control won’t work through a universal remote. The voice button is a Bluetooth feature of the Aero’s own remote.
Bluetooth pairing with third-party Bluetooth remotes may be possible, but isn’t something we’ve tested broadly. If you try it and have success or trouble, we’d be glad to hear about it.
