How do software updates work on the Aero?
Your Aero updates its software over your internet connection. New versions are released in stages, so not every box receives an update on the same day.
Automatic updates
Automatic System Updates is switched on by default. When a new version becomes available, your Aero automatically downloads and installs it in the background while you carry on watching.
You’ll find the setting under Settings → System → Software Updates → Automatic System Updates.
Approving updates yourself
If you’d rather approve each update before it downloads, switch Automatic System Updates off. When a new version becomes available, your Aero asks for approval before it downloads and installs the update.
Restarting or delaying the update
Whether Automatic System Updates is on or off, once the installation is complete, your Aero asks you to restart. You can restart straight away or delay the update by 12, 24 or 48 hours, up to three times. After the third delay, your Aero restarts automatically and applies the new version.
You can check for a new version at any time under Settings → System → Software Updates → Check for Updates.
Checking your current version
Highlight Software Updates in the Settings → System menu and your current version is shown alongside it. You’ll also find it under Settings → System Information, shown as TiVo OS Version.
