How do software updates work on the Aero?
Your Aero updates its software over your internet connection. New versions are released in stages, so not every box receives an update on the same day.
Automatic updates
Automatic System Updates is switched on by default. When a new version becomes available, your Aero downloads and installs it in the background while you carry on watching. The new version doesn’t take effect straight away: once it’s ready, the Aero asks you to restart, and the update is applied when you confirm.
You’ll find the setting under Settings → System → Software Updates → Automatic System Updates.
Approving updates yourself
If you’d rather stay in control, switch Automatic System Updates off. The Aero will then ask before it downloads and installs a new version, and the restart at the end is still yours to confirm.
You can check for a new version at any time under Settings → System → Software Updates → Check for Updates.
Checking your current version
Highlight Software Updates in the Settings → System menu and your current version is shown alongside it. You’ll also find it under Settings → System Information.
