What a summer it’s been for sport, eh? From glorious victories to heart-wrenching losses, it felt like we had it all. And the best part? We got to watch it all from the comfort of our homes, free of charge, on good old terrestrial TV.

First up, let’s talk about the Euros. England made it to the final in the 2024 European Championship, sending the nation into a frenzy again. We came so close (again), but it wasn’t to be. Spain edged us out 2-1 with a late winner. But what a ride! We saw cracking performances stars like Jude Bellingham and Cole Palmer and Ollie Watkins. It was a rollercoaster that had us singing (and a bit of cursing) at the telly – and isn’t that just what football’s all about?

Then came Wimbledon, and we got another dose of that classic British summer vibe. Watching tennis legends battle it out on the grass courts, with strawberries and cream in hand, is a quintessential part of the season. And how about that thrilling showdown when young Carlos Alcaraz toppled Novak Djokovic in fantastic final? A reminder that the future of tennis is bright, even as the old guard still battle it out.

Just as we were catching our breath, the Olympics kicked off in Paris. Team GB finished seventh in the medal table, bringing home a respectable 14 gold medals and 65 in total. From sensational victories in cycling to standout performances in swimming and athletics, our athletes did us proud once again. And of course, who could forget Alex Yee’s stunning triathlon gold and our women’s sprint team setting world records? It was a summer full of golden moments.

The Paralympics however definitely had a ‘hold my beer’ moment. Team GB finished second in the medal table with a remarkable haul of 49 golds. Our Paralympians were unstoppable, breaking records and inspiring the nation. Whether it was on the track, in the pool, or on the court, they demonstrated the power of sport to inspire and uplift. It was a spectacle of determination and skill that had us all cheering.

So, here’s to a summer that had it all – goals, glory, tears, and triumphs. It’s proof that the magic of sport doesn’t have to come with a price tag. All of this was available to us, completely free, on the channels we’ve always known and loved.

Now, we want to hear from you – what was your standout moment from this epic summer of sport? Whether it was England’s gutsy performance in the Euros, the tension of Wimbledon, or those jaw-dropping Paralympic feats, drop us a comment and let’s keep the conversation going!
