You just can’t beat a good old rerun, can you? With more time being spent indoors, sometimes you just want a nice long trip down memory lane. That’s where we come in! Enjoy endless British classics, perfect binge-watching material, and relive classic TV moments from years gone by, all on Britbox.

To celebrate Women’s History Month, we’re giving you our top 5 reruns from yesteryear, all with incredible female leads and all available on Britbox!

Call the Midwife

What a classic this is, eh? Based on the memoirs of Jennifer Worth, a midwife based in London’s East End during the late 1950s and ’60s, this show has captured the hearts of many and stars some incredible female leads such as Miranda Hart and Jessica Raine. So whether you’re a brand new fan, or you just want to refresh your memory before the new series starts, be sure to dive into the drama of Nonnatus House.

Cilla

Our only criticism of this is that there was only one series! Sheridan Smith’s spell-binding portrayal of legendary entertainer, Cilla Black was an absolute masterstroke that left audiences clamoring for more after its 2014 release. From early encounters with the Fab Four to Cilla Black’s own rise to stardom, this mini-series covers everything from the early days on Merseyside. This is a truly joyous watch, despite initially arriving on our screens in the period of Cilla Black’s untimely passing. It’s a true testament to everyone involved that this was still able to convey so much joy and laughter!

Birds of a Feather

Now, this is about as classic as it gets! As soon as the opening notes of the hugely-popular theme tune, “What’ll I do” are heard, we all know we’re in for some side-splitting laughter. As we’ve come to find out, sisters Sharon and Tracey have next to nothing in common but when they get together, comedy gold is guaranteed. As if Sharon and Tracey’s larger-than-life characters aren’t enough, Dorien is always on hand to take things up a notch!

The Vicar of Dibley

Ah, we love this! Dawn French stars as everyone’s favourite vicar, Geraldine Granger in a heart-warmingly funny and BAFTA-winning comedy. The cast is jam-packed with British comedy greats but above all, but French is the true shining star. The Vicar of Dibley still remains one of Britain’s best-loved sitcoms and after watching it back, it’s clear why! We never tire of watching the vicar try to appease some of her cantankerous parishioners.

Absolutely Fabulous

How could we not mention Ab-fab? One of, if not the, most iconic female-led British programmes, ever! Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders’ depictions of Patsy and Eddie are truly unparalleled. Very few comedies have come close since! The show  undoubtedly paved the way for many others and to this day remains  one of the UK's favourites.
