BBC systems change affecting series linking, accurate recording and HD alternative functionality

The BBC are in the process of changing their scheduling systems and this has caused issues with series linking and accurate recording on all Freeview and Freesat products over the last few weeks. In addition, HD alternative functionality for BBC programmes is no longer working on Freesat and will soon be unavailable on Freeview.

Series linking makes it possible to record all episodes of a series and accurate recording ensures that recordings start and end at exactly the right time. The BBC believe these features should now be working correctly but if you notice any reoccurring problems with recording programmes, please let us know.

Our products use HD alternative functionality to:

  • Automatically record or prompt the viewer to record HD versions of SD programmes (depending on the users' preference)
  • Notify the viewer when a programme they are watching in SD is also available on another channel in HD

HD alternative functionality is currently unavailable for BBC programmes on Freesat and will soon be unavailable on Freeview as well. The BBC believe it may not be restored for as long as 6 months.

We will continue to update this page with further information as soon as we get it.
